The Centre for Theoretical Physics, Jamia Millia Islamia has instituted the annual "''V. V. Narlikar received his Bachelor of Science degree from Bombay University in 1928 and then began his studies at Cambridge University in England, where he passed the Mathematics tripos in 1930.〔 He returned to India in 1932 as professor of Mathematics at the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He became ''Lokmanya Tilak professor of Mathematics''〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://math.unipune.ac.in/DepartmentHistory.htm )〕 at the University of Poona in 1966 and retired in 1973.
